20 ministers in the new coalition government have been sworn in today

On Monday, the new power coalition in the reconstituted government has finalized the names of 20 ministers. The President’s office has started preparations for those ministers to take oath today.

CPN (UML), the largest party in the coalition, has 8 leaders, Maoists, who are leading the government, 6, National Independent Party (RASWPA), 4 and CPN (Unified Samajwadi), 2 leaders. Apart from Samajwadi Party, 3 parties have decided the names of the ministers.

UML is making eight leaders of the party under the leadership of party secretary Raghuveer Mahaseth as ministers. Damodar Bhandari, Hari Upreti, Bhagwati Chaudhary, Rajendra Rai, Jwalakumari Sah and Balram Adhikari are going to be made ministers by UML along with Padam Giri who has already taken oath.

Maoists are making Prime Minister and President Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Senior Vice President Narayan Kaji Shrestha as Foreign Minister, and Varshman Pun as Finance Minister. The remaining two ministers, Shakti Bahadur Basnet and Rekha Sharma, have not decided which ministry they will lead. The ministry of Hit Bahadur Tamang, who has taken the oath before, has not been finalized.

The National Independent Party has finalized the ministers to be sent to 4 ministries including Chairman Ravi Lamichhane as Home Minister. The party has decided to send DP Aryal for labor, Virajbhakta Shrestha for youth and sports and Sumana Shrestha for education.

Samajwadi’s secretariat meeting also decided to participate in the new coalition government with two ministries. However, the ministry and minister to be given to that party have not been decided yet.
