Non-Performing Loans (NPL) are a type of loan in which borrowers are delaying paying or is unlikely to be repaid by the borrower. It hurts the profitability of the banks. Hence, the lower the NPL, the higher the profits for the banks. However, it is impossible to eliminate the non-performing loans. So, banks try to keep it as low as possible.
